When questioned about the quitting of veteran mappila pattu singer V.M. Kutty from the panel of judges of ‘Patturumal,’ Mr. Jyothi said Kairali TV was surprised by the statements he made in the media. “Mr. Kutty was part of the programme till the 100th episode and he never complained about ghazals or qawwalis being included in ‘Patturumal.’ He had even commented favourably on such songs,” he explained. “The shoot of the show was completed in March. He did not say anything all these days. He had also accepted his remuneration. The only reason for his outburst, I feel, could be our decision not to include him in the panel of judges for the new season of ‘Patturumal,’ which goes on air from next week.”
Shibu Chakravarthy, associate director – programmes, Kairali, said Patturumal was one of the most popular programmes on Kairali.
