PALAKKAD: Seat belts for car drivers will be made compulsory in the district

from August 2 as part of the implementation of the Kerala Road Safety Authority Act – 2007.

As per this, the driver and the passenger in the front seat will have to use seat belt.

The district police authorities here started an awareness campaign from Tuesday in this regard. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Viswanathan, said district-level

police squads were formed to conduct the campaign. Traffic personnel have been directed to inform vehicle users about law that is in place, he said. The police will also take action against those who use mobile phones while driving, Mr. Viswanathan said.
