KOCHI: CPI activists took out a march to the newly opened Reliance grocery outlet in Thevara on Monday morning to protest the entry of multinational retail chains into Kerala. They staged a sit-in in front of the shop the whole day.

The shop was one of the three Reliance retail shops opened in the city recently. Inaugurated by Dinesh Mani, MLA, it kicked off a row over a CPI (M) leader associating himself with a retail chain against the policy of the party.

MLA’s version

Mr. Mani had later claimed that he had been misled into inaugurating the shop and that he had not been aware that it was Reliance’s.
