Kottayam: Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker has criticised the reported move on the part of the State Government to involve local bodies in the administration of schools.

Speaking to presspersons after presenting the NSS budget at Perunna on Saturday, he said, “it is learnt that the committee entrusted with the reforms of the Kerala Educational Rules (KER) is seriously thinking of giving the power to initiate disciplinary actions against teachers of aided schools to these institutions.

Mr. Panicker said this was part of the game plan to bring in politics into the administration of schools.

Any move in this direction would not be for the good of the education system in the State, he said.

Administration of educational institutions should be in the hands of those with professional expertise and administrative experience. Any unilateral move would invite strong reaction from the NSS, he said.

He called upon the Government to desist from any such move.
