THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The new-look colour edition of ‘Thaliru,’ a children’s magazine brought out by the State Institute of Children’s Literature, was released by Education Minister M.A. Baby at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Pattom, on Tuesday.

The 51-page magazine in Malayalam complete with cartoons, short stories, illustrations, quiz, crosswords, poems and drawings is aimed at attracting the teenage readers in the State.

“Most of the children’s magazines we have in Malayalam cater only up to the upper primary level. ‘Thaliru’ will also focus on teenagers,” said Rubin D’cruz, director of the institute. “We have also started columns on various topics related to science, history and environment. The cover story for our next issue is Vaikkom Mohammed Basheer,” said Mr. D’cruz. The magazine, published on the first of every month, is priced at Rs.8. The magazine can also be had at an annual subscription of Rs.90.
