Takes over as Chief Electrical Inspector

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K.K.Unni has taken charge as Chief Electrical Inspector in the place of K.S.Beena who retired on superannuation. An electrical engineering graduate from the Thrissur Engineering College, he entered service as an officer of the Indian Oil Corporation. He later joined the KSEB and from there to the Electrical Inspectorate. Special Correspondent

Kamal Nath refutes reports

Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of Commerce and Industries Kamal Nath has refuted reports to the effect that an understanding has been reached to reduce the import duty on natural rubber at the India-Thailand trade talks. He clarified this in his reply to a letter addressed to him by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala on the issue. Mr. Kamal Nath said that even though Thailand had made such a demand, he did not concede it taking into consideration the interests of the rubber cultivators of Kerala. Special Correspondent

RYF extends support to eviction drive

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Revolutionary Youth Front (RYF) State leadership meet held here on Saturday has resolved to extend full support to the ongoing official action against encroachers on Government land. Revolutionary Socialist Party State secretary T.J. Chandrachoodan inaugurated the meet in the afternoon. RYF State president Kovoor Kunjumon, MLA, presided.
