GoalGoal, directed by Kamal, is a lively film full of young people with a teenager emerging as the hero. The excitement of the game of football has been deftly interwoven into the story of the film. The several football sequences in the film offer quite a few thrilling moments, aided by P. Sukumar's able camerawork. The script is by Kalavoor Ravikumar.

Sam (Rejith Menon) is a teenager who works as a helper in the sports stadium of a public school in Ooty. He works under Vijay (Rahman), the football coach of the school. His niece Neethu (Aksha) is a student of the school. Another teenager Maria (Muktha), a friend of Sam, works as a waitress in the school canteen.

Coach Vijay is ridiculed by other members of the staff of the school because of the poor performance of the school football team. Sam's father Isaac (Mukesh), a former national football player, lost his memory following an accident. He now wanders around the place. So, Sam takes him to the school stadium at night. Here, Sam plays with the football all by himself in a bid to revive his father's memory, but in vain.

Stealthily Neethu films Sam's performance on her camera and shows it to Vijay. He realises that Sam has the potential to become a fine footballer. Vijay recommends to the sports-loving Principal (Captain Raju) to admit Sam to the school. Thus Sam becomes a student and a member of the football team. And Neethu is attracted towards Sam. With Sam in the team, the school begins to win matches thanks to his brilliant performances. But some of his team-mates are jealous of Sam's rise and they conspire to stop him from playing. This leads to a crisis in Sam's life, and how he overcomes it forms the rest of the film.

Rejith Menon is impressive as Sam. Mukesh has done justice to his role. The cast includes Salim Kumar, Kunjan, Jagadeesh, Midhun and Jennie. Lyrics of Girish Puthencheri and Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma are set to music by Vidyasagar. The singers include Vineeth Srinivasan, Devanand, and Sweta.
