Lawyers' meet today

Kochi: A meeting of Bar Associations and various lawyers' organisations in the State called on Wednesday will discuss steps to be taken on the issue relating to the illegal arrest and detention of High Court lawyer Haridas P. Nair on the order of the Chitoor Judicial First Class Magistrate. The lawyer was later released on bail granted by the High Court. The meeting will be held at the High Court Advocates' Association Hall at 11 a.m., said the conveners of the Action Council of the Kerala High Court Advocate Association. Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The People's Council for Social Justice, the Kerala Social Welfare Department and UNICEF have jointly opened a mental health club for students of schools in Chellanam grama panchayat. Construction workers' plea

KOCHI: The Nirmana Thozhilali Sangam (BMS) has demanded that the construction sector in the Ernakulam district be saved from interference by middlemen who masquerade as trade union leaders. In a press release, Sangam State general secretary M.K. Kamalan said workers were at the mercy of middlemen who charge hefty sums as levy from them. Staff Reporter
