KOCHI: The relaying of K.P. Vallon Road will begin after the pressure testing of the pipes that were laid for the HUDCO drinking water project.
Kochi Mayor Mercy Williams announced this at the Kochi Corporation council meeting on Thursday.
The Kerala Water Authority has offered to level the road that was dug up for laying the pipes. The traffic along the busy road was hit for the past few weeks following the work. The northern part of Sahodaran Ayyappan road will be cut open for the laying the pipeline on April 27.
This portion will be restored before beginning the work at the South side of the S.A. road.
Corporation councillors Johnson T.K. Padmanabhan, V.K. Thankaraj and K.V.P. Krishnakumar raised the plight of the pedestrians and motorists in the council.
The Corporation had earmarked Rs.1.46 crore for the road in its annual budget.
A team of officials of the State Pollution Control Board would visit the Kaloor slaughterhouse on Friday to inspect whether changes suggested them had been introduced.
The power supply to the slaughterhouse was terminated the other day following an instruction from the board officials, K.V. Manoj informed the council.
