To discuss emerging trends in science and technology

KOZHIKODE: The All Kerala Engineering Students Association (Technos) in association with the college union of Government Engineering College (GEC), Kozhikode, will organise `UNA VOCE `07', a national-level technical workshop at the GEC on Friday and Saturday.

The workshop will have seminars, academic discussions and interactive sessions.

It will have sessions on emerging trends in science and technology, globalised technical education and free software.

ISRO scientist N.Narayanamurthy, mission director of the PSLV C7, which enabled India to become the fifth country to perform Space Shuttle Recovery Experiment (SRE), will lead the workshop.

Mr. Narayanamurthy was also the mission director of the PSLV C8 that launched the Italian satellite Agile on April 23.

This will be his first public function after the launch of the PSLV C8, college union chairman K.Ajeesh and Technos vice-chairman G.A. Ajas said.

Other sessions

Other sessions will be led by Anwar Sadath, manager, Kerala State IT Mission, and an exclusive Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) foundry by Prof. Jilesh of the Society for Promotion of Alternative Computing and Employment (SPACE) will also be held.

The programme is a national-level platform for participation from all engineering colleges.

A total of 500 students are expected to participate, they said.

The district conference of Technos will also be held on Sunday.
