ALAPPUZHA: With Alappuzha and surrounding areas facing acute shortage of drinking water, K.C. Venugopal, MLA, has requested district in-charge

Minister G. Sudhakaran to take urgent remedial action.

In a statement here, Mr. Venugopal pointed out that the situation in areas such as Pallathuruthy and Nehru Trophy ward was deteriorating by the day.

`Use boats'

He said arrangements should be made to supply drinking water to the doorsteps using boats. The water supply in Thirumala ward, Pazhaveedu and Kanjiramchira, among other places, was also decreasing every day. The shortage here could be solved by arranging for water tankers, the MLA said.
