KOCHI: The Cochin Refineries Evictees' Association, a body of people who have been evicted from the localities adjoining Kochi Refineries Ltd., will organise a dharna in front of the refineries gate on February 22.

The agitation is to protest against the denial of work to those who have been evicted from the premises of the refineries because of land acquisition in the course of its expansion.

The association representatives said at a press conference here on Tuesday that the company management had agreed several years ago to provide jobs to the evicted people.

A list of eligible people had also been submitted to the authorities.

But the promise had not been honoured and many among the affected people were in penury.

Jayanthan Namboodiripad, K.A. Rajan and M.C. Paulose were among those who represented the association.
