MobME Wireless Solutions, a Technopark-based company specialising in mobile value-added services, has won the NASSCOM Innovation Award for 2011.
MobME won the award under the category, Market Facing Innovation, for its implementation of the m Governance Service Delivery Platform (mSDP) for Kerala State IT Mission, India's first m-governance project.
MobME is one of the eight companies that won this recognition from among the shortlisted 20 finalists. Sanjay Vijayakumar, co-founder and CEO, MobME, received the award from Minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma at the recently concluded NASSCOM India Leadership Forum (NILF)-2011 in Delhi.
The NASSCOM awards, into its 7th year now, recognise organisations that have developed pioneering products and services.
MobME and the other seven winners were selected from over 300 nominations from 190 organisations, spread across the country in four categories namely New Technology Advancement, Market Facing Innovation, Process Innovation and Start-up Category.
The panel of judges comprising industry luminaries, academicians and analysts shortlisted the finalists based on the innovation of technology, scalability of the model and the number of patents filed by the applicant company.
On receiving the award, Mr. Vijayakumar said: “The mGovernance Service Delivery Platform faced the challenge of bringing innovation in public sector.”
“This special recognition for a Technopark-incubated company is very special to us since this will act as a catalyst for our entrepreneur-promotion campaign to encourage youngsters. This award, I am sure, will set to rest apprehensions in the minds of prospective entrepreneurs,” Technopark CEO Mervin Alexander said.
MobME serves leading telecom operators in the country with a range of innovative platforms, solutions and managed services. It is also emerging as a key player in mGovernance initiatives that help in delivering government services through mobile phone, according to a press release.
