KOLLAM: A team from the Kollam East Police station has arrested a 37-year-old man, Anil Kumar, a native of Palayankotta in Tamil Nadu on Thursday, on charges of being involved in a series of theft cases in and around Kollam city. Sub Inspector G. Gopakumar, who led the team, said that Anil was the kingpin of an inter-State gang of robbers.

Police arrested him on the basis of a tip-off received by Kollam District Superintendent of Police K. Sanjay Kumar that Anil was camping in the city with the intention of committing more robberies. He has confessed to the police that he is wanted in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for more than 100 robbery cases.

Police said that Anil was responsible for recent theft cases at Pattathanam Bhavna Nagar, Asramam Keerthi Nagar, Shakthikulangara Sowhrida Nagar and several robberies at Kilikollur, Chathannur, Anchaulmood and Kottiyam. He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-11 here on Thursday and remanded to the District Jail.
