In the Arabic fest, Government High School, Vennala led in the high school category with 23 points closely followed by Darul Uloom Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam, with 22 points.

After the literary and painting competitions held on the first day, stage events got off to a start on the second day. Competitions were being held in nine stages in three venues.

One of the highlights of the day was the mono act competition staged on the Sacred Heart school auditorium. Acts portraying a variety of themes from communal tensions to the tragedy in the backwaters of Thekkady came alive on the stage as young minds proved that they had their eyes and ears open to the events happening around them. Sincerity of their efforts notwithstanding, many performances appeared to lack soul and a definite grace affecting the overall standard of the competition.

Earlier in the day, C.M. Dinesh Mani, MLA, inaugurated the fete. The competitions will end on Thursday followed by a valedictory function the next day.
