KOCHI: A cultural festival of music, dance, theatre and arts will be on in the city from December 17 to 20.
Organised by the Thiruvananthapuram-based stage and film society Soorya in association with the Kerala Fine Arts Society and the Bank Employees’ Art Movement, Ernakulam, the cultural festival will have music concerts, dance and fusion music by well-known artistes.
Moozhikulam Kochikuttan Chakyar will inaugurate the festival and the inaugural function includes joint vocal recital by Kavalam Sreekumar and M. Jayachandran as the main event. An artists’ camp will begin on the first day of the festival and will be on throughout till the end of the festival.
About 15 artists will be participating and they will price their work for not more than Rs. 1,000.
Addressing a press meet on the events, stagecraft artiste Soorya Krishnamurthy said that pricing the works low is to reach out to the public in a large way. There will also be a short play for half-an-hour every day at 6 p.m. from December 17 onwards.
K. T. Mohammed’s Ithu Bhumiyanu will be staged on December 19. Among the main events are fusion music led by veena maestro Rajesh Vaidya, Hindustani vocal by Gayathri, Bharatanatyam by Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and Tharangam, a dance and music fusion ensemble, to be held on each day of the festival respectively.
