THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SriLankan Holidays, the leisure arm of SriLankan Airlines, has come up with four exciting tours to the island nation to attract children and their parents to explore the beautiful country.
Valid from November to January, the tours are marketed as ‘Holiday in Colombo,’ ‘Holiday on the beach,’ ‘Holiday in Negombo’ and ‘Holiday in Kandy.’
Two children below of the age of 12 can accompany a minimum of two adults purchasing the holiday packages that are on offer out of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Coimbatore, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli and Hyderabad.
All the four special holiday packages include return airfare on SriLankan Airlines including fuel surcharge for adult tickets, accommodation on a bed-and-breakfast basis, airport and internal transfers, transportation by air-conditioned vehicles and English-speaking chauffeur guide with a city tour of Colombo.
“The tours have been specially created to bring children and their parents to the very best of what Sri Lanka has to offer,” says Amith Sumanapala, general manager, SriLankan Holidays.
Kandy, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens spread over 147 acres, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, Fort, the former British administrative centre and military garrison, Sea Street (the goldsmiths’ quarters in the heart of Pettah), the Bazaar area, an old Hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749 are among the places included in the packages.
With Christmas around the corner, the visitors can look for shopping malls and boutiques ranging from middle to top end. The smaller shops and boutiques in the Fort, Pettah and Maradana areas offer a wealth of shopping at bargain prices. Leisure World, a short drive out of Colombo offers the infinite pleasures of an aqua adventure park with a variety of attractions and water sports.
