Kozhikode: BJP leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai on Tuesday said that the “soft stand” taken by the LDF government against the terror accused in the State would only help the perpetrators escape and leave national security at stake.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Pillai said that beyond a “publicity stunt,” the Left government was doing nothing convincing against the alarming presence of terror operatives in the State.

Quoting recent media reports on the massive recruitment of Keralites to terrorist outfits including Lashkar-e-thoiba, the BJP leader said that the government was going soft even on those who had been arrested from the State accused of having terrorist links in Kashmir.

Mr. Pillai, who compared CPI (M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan’s statements against NDF and other organisations in the State to “devil reciting from scriptures,” said that he (Pinarayi Vijayan) had “zero sincerity or honesty” while condemning the NDF as he had tainted his hand with an “unholy’ alliance with that organisation for electoral gains. He also demanded that Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who was “touring the world when the State was facing serious troubles,” should immediately return to the State and take stringent action against terror perpetrators.
