KOZHIKODE: Vice-President of Bosch India R. Krishnan inaugurated ‘Tathva 08,’ the annual techno-management festival of the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) here on Thursday. The festival will end on Sunday. A. Achyuthan, environmentalist and the former Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at NIT-C and NIT-C Director G.R.C. Reddy spoke. NIT-C students’ council general secretary Dileep S. Kumar and NIT-C academic affairs secretary Kunchako Jacob Academic gave a brief introduction to ‘Tathva.’

‘Tathva’ convenor P.S. Sathidevi said the event emphasised the use of non-conventional sources of energy, as an initiative. This year’s ‘Tathva’ has a budget Rs.12 lakh and offers a total prize money of Rs.6 lakh, she said.

‘Tathva’ features a business plan contest programmes for children, an astrophotography workshop amont others. An auto-show ‘Wheels 08’ will be held. Schedule for Friday includes an open-ended Flash game designing contest and a workshop by Sun Microsystems on NetBeans.
