Kozhikode: Furthering the IT dreams of the city, Calicut IT Forum — a collective of different trade and professional organisations, national-level institutions of excellence and local administration — will organise an IT-HR Summit, ‘Empower IT @ Malabar,’ here on August 30.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, District Collector A. Jayathilak, who is leading the IT initiatives in the district, said the summit would be a great opportunity for the Malabar region to showcase its unique strengths and potentials before top IT officials from the country and abroad.
“We should be able to attract them to our city for all the right reasons,” he said.
National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) regional director K. Purushothaman said that Kozhikode as an emerging Tier-II city in the country was very much under the serious consideration of NASSCOM to develop it as a major IT destination.
“The city is believed to have the right mix of all the prerequisites, including a sound human resource pool, and other infrastructure for IT firms to take roots and grow,” he said.
The IT-HR Summit aims at showcasing the city’s human resource so as to get a space for itself on the IT map of the country, with the help of the IT Mission and NASSCOM. The “high profile event” to be held at the Tagore Hall here will have CEOs of nearly 25 major IT companies evaluating the potential of the region’s youth .
Organising committee member and professor of IIM-K Saji Gopinath said the meet was expected to attract more than 1,500 candidates from over 150 colleges and technical institutes in Malabar.
