MALAPPURAM: The elections to the Calicut University Union were held on Tuesday with a section of students led by the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) boycotting them. Six members, all belonging to the Students Federation of India (SFI), were elected to the union. Four had been elected unopposed.

S.K. Sajeesh of the Government Law College, Kozhikode, was elected chairman and P.G. Subidas of Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur, vice-chairman. V.K.K.M.M. Mohammed Shafi Khureshi from the university campus was elected union secretary and A. Mohammed Shihab of S.N. College, Alathur, was elected joint secretary. N. Sikha of Government Arts and Science College, Kozhikode, had already been elected woman vice-chairperson.

The executive members representing Wayanad and Kozhikode districts were elected on Tuesday. MSF and KSU activists took out marches through the campus.
