Event to be held from December

1 to 15

Arrangements in place: Collector

PATHANAMTHITTA: The district administration is making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF), District Collector P.C. Sanalkumar has said.

He was addressing an official-level meeting to review the arrangements for the festival, at the Collectorate conference hall here on Friday.

Mr. Sanalkumar said the festival, to be held from December 1 to 15, had been planned in such a way that it could boost the State’s trade and commerce sector in a big way and make the State an international trade destination in a phased manner.

Thrust on tradition

The festival, being sponsored by the Tourism Department, will give due consideration to market centres, traditional industrial and tourism centres.

It is expected that such an approach will also have a positive effect on the State’s economy.

He said retail shops, trade centres, super markets, shopping malls, etc, will be offering attractive packages during the festival with a view to encourage customers, besides attracting more tourists to the State.

GKSF would also promote local traditional products, he added.

The Collector said registration of shops for taking part in the festival will begin on August 15.

These shops would issue coupons to customers and the prize winners will be selected through draw of lots, later.
