Kozhikode: Minister for Culture M.A. Baby has said the Culture Department and the State government will provide support to change the ‘pathetic state’ of the Uroob Memorial Literary Museum lodged at the Kiliyanad School building on Wayanad Road.

The Minister was inaugurating the Uroob Memorial Meeting marking the conclusion of the week-long ‘Uroob Festival’ organised by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in connection with the 50th anniversary of the book, ‘Sundarikalum Sundaranmarum’.

He said the Akademi was contemplating some measures, which the government would back, to give a facelift to the museum.

The Minister said writers alone could sustain the name of a land through ages. Akademi president M. Mukundan said today’s novels had no large canvas that Uroob’s novels had. He said Kerala society was one where literature influenced all spheres of life.
