KOCHI: Childline, working for the welfare of children, rescued 35 children in recent months. On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour on June 12, the organisation that can be reached at 1098, wants the public to be aware of the crime of employing children below 14 years.

In Ernakulam district, Childline managed to pick up 28 children working in hotels; four from households, two working in brick kilns and two engaged in bag making.

Childline said in a press release that the rescued children narrated their long working hours. Many had worked for 16 hours, most often without regular salary.
