Kozhikode: Pedigree pet dogs from different States vied for honours in the All India All Breeds Championship Dog Show organised by the Malabar Canine Club (MCC) at the Marine Grounds on the beach here on Sunday. Dogs of rare varieties including Siberian Husky, Dogue De Bordeaux, Afghan Hound, Bull Mastiff and Neopolian Mastiff featured in the show.

According to MCC secretary Arangil Girish Kumar, contestants from cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa and Mumbai participated in the event.

Philip John from Chennai and Mugul Vaid from Delhi (both international judges) were the judges of the show, which started at 1.30 p.m. and continued till 8.30 at night.

Assistant Commissioner of the City Police C.R. Raja Sundaram gave away the prizes to the winners.

The organisers had also made arrangements for registration of pedigree dogs under the Canine Club of India at the venue.
