THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fair price one should get for one’s plot of land, wherever it be in the State, is now on the government web site www.igr.kerala.gov.in launched on Wednesday.
Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran clicked on the link to launch the web site at a function here. Minister for Registration S. Sarma was present.
A person can zero in exactly on his/her plot to know its fair value by selecting on the screen the district, taluk, village, desam, block and ultimately, the survey number.
Several ‘land types’ are listed against each survey number. The fair value varies according to the nature of the plot - whether it is residential or commercially important, has vehicular access or not and is rocky or waterlogged. Fifteen ‘land types’ are given in the list, attending as much as possible to subtle variations in price, which usually happens for land in the same survey number.
The web site houses the pages of several hundred volumes of the gazette notification giving tentative fair prices of land in all parts of the State, published on May 5. Pages of the notification relevant to each area are available at the revenue divisional office/taluk office/panchayat office/village office concerned. Mr. Rajendran said the web site was to give the notification wider access so that as many people as possible could check it and inform the government of anomalies. Revenue Divisional Officers are empowered to revise the fair value in the case of genuine complaints. The revised notification will be published on July 5.
