Kochi: The Kerala High Court adjourned to May 21 the hearing on writ petitions against the introduction of the single-window system for admission to Higher Secondary schools in the State. In an affidavit, the government said that it was introduced to ensure social justice and equal opportunities in the education sector.

Ragging case

Justice V. Ramkumar of the High Court on Monday reserved judgment on a petition filed by the government seeking to review its earlier order absolving the Principal and director of a nursing school in Kottayam of charges under the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act. The prosecution case was that a 17-year-old girl who joined the first-year nursing course conducted by the School of Medical Educationwas sexually abused by the accused students on October 21, 2005.
