Thrissur: Thrissur Pooram, one of the major festivals in the State, will be celebrated on Wednesday.

Pooram festivities will begin in the morning with Thrissur town playing host to processions (‘Cheru Poorams’) from Kanimangalam Sastha, Karamukku Bhagavathy, Neythilakkaavu Bhagavathy, Lalur Bhagavathy, Panamukkampalli Sastha, Choorakkottukavu Durga, Ayyanthole Karthyayani and Chembukkavu Karthyayani temples. The ‘Madathilekku Varavu’ ceremony, in which the ‘thidambu’ (idol) of the Thiruvambadi Bhagavathy is taken from the Thiruvambadi temple to Naduvil Madom at Pazhayanadakkavu, west of the Thekkinkad Maidan, will begin at 7.30 a.m. Thiruvambadi Ramabhadran will bear the idol.
