PATHANAMTHITTA: The official machinery and the Travancore Devaswom Board have made arrangements for the Vishu festival at the Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala.
The festival began on Friday at the temple, and hundreds of devotees from various parts of South India have trekked the holy hillock.
Devotees can view Vishukkani at the temple from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Monday. T.K. Krishnan Namboodiri, Melsanthi, will prepare the Kani inside the sanctum sanctorum after Athazhapuja on Sunday.
Kandararu Maheswararu, Tantri, and the melsanthi will offer coins as “Vishukaineettom” to the devotees at the sopanam.
The Tantri, assisted by the Melsanthi, prepared Brahmakalasom in a golden urn and other kalasoms (holy water) in 1,000 small copper urns for Sahasrakalasabhishekom on Saturday afternoon.
These will be taken in a procession to the sanctum sanctorum to the accompaniment of the music from the sacred Marapani and other traditional temple percussion prior to Utchapuja on Sunday.
The Vishu festival will come to a close on Friday, with the temple being closed after Athazhapuja.
