The 10-day festival will begin with the flag-hoisting ceremony on Sunday.
KOLLAM: The annual 10-day festival of the Asramam Sri Krishna Swamy Temple will begin on April 6 with the traditional flag hoisting ceremony between 9 a.m. and 9.35 a.m. on that day.
The Kollam Pooram organised in connection with the festival will be held from 5 p.m. at the Asramam Maidan on April 15. The Pooram ceremonies will be inaugurated by Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan.
Temple committee president V. Radhakrishnan Nair and secretary T. Babukumar said the Thiruvabharana procession would be held on April 13. The procession will start from the Anandawalleshwaram temple at 3 p.m. and reach the Sri Krishna Swamy Temple late in the night after passing through the main areas of the city.
Various cultural events will accompany the procession.
The Vishukani ritual of the temple will start at 4 a.m. on April 14.
The Pooram Ezhunallippu will begin from 14 temples in the city as mini Pooram procession proceeding to the Asramam temple. Tuskers, taking part in the main Pooram, will be given a shower bath at the temple precincts. This is an added attraction. After the bath, the tuskers will be taken for feeding.
After the Pooram ritual, there will be a fireworks display at the Asramam Maidan. Cultural programmes have been organised on all the days of the festival.
