Thiruvananthapuram: Hindi scholar N. Chandrasekharan Nair who won the Maharashtra Hindi Sahitya Academy award has decided to donate the award money to students excelling in Hindi. Speaking after receiving the award from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil, he said the cash prize of Rs.1 lakh would be distributed among Hindi students studying in 25 colleges in Thiruvananthapuram.

Mr. Nair was also presented with a shawl, citation, shield and a bouquet of roses.

Ghazal singer Anup Jalota, another recipient of the award, promised to donate his prize money to a music academy in Mumbai. — Special Correspondent
