For providing poor facilities

Call to streamline amenities for pilgrims

‘Remove uncertainties in pilgrims’ list’

KOZHIKODE: Kerala Haj Welfare Forum, Kozhikode, has criticised the apathetic attitude of the Haj Committee and the government in providing adequate facilities to those who undertake the Haj pilgrimage.

M.K.C. Abuhaji, chairman, and P.M. Mohammedali, general secretary, of the Haj Welfare Committee appealed to the Haj Committee to be aware of the difficulties faced by the pilgrims and streamline the facilities provided to them

Pilgrims during the last season had to suffer a lot of uncertainties with regard to the immunisation they were expected to undergo and inclusion in the list of pilgrims prepared by the Haj Committee.

They said there were many drawbacks in the boarding and lodging facilities provided to the hajis in Mecca and Medina.

Negative impact

The alleged effort not to allow volunteers to be part of the activities of the Haj Committee was another drawback which had a negative impact on the treatment of Haj pilgrims, the office-bearers of the committee said.
