Office to be set up in two days, says top official

Kozhikode: Mohamed Salim Ahmed, country manager, India, Oman Air, has said that the foreign airlines company will operate from Karipur airport in four months.

Speaking at an interactive meeting organised by Malabar Chamber of Commerce (MCC) , Calicut Airport Committee (CAC) and Gulf Calicut Air Passengers Association (GAPAC) here on Monday, Mr. Ahmed said that there would be daily direct flight from Muscat to Kozhikode and vice versa. Oman Air would set up office at the airport in two days, he said.

The Muscat-Kozhikode flight would have connection flights all over the Gulf countries and also from United Kingdom. “We will try to bring a lot of tourists to Kozhikode,” he said. He lamented that there were not enough good hotels in Kozhikode. At present, Oman Air operates 14 flights a week from Kerala, seven each from Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

He said that the company’s operations in Kozhikode depended on the availability of aircraft.
