KOZHIKODE: The State Committee of Kerala Private Pharmacists Association has suggested that a centre to conduct studies and research in medicine be set up in the State.
Jayan Koroth, KPPA spokesperson, said here on Monday that the suggestion to for a research centre in medicine acquires relevance in the backdrop of the rich biodiversity of the region, traditional knowledge of Kerala in medical therapies and availability of medicinal plants here.
Such a centre would be able to contribute greatly the field of research in medicine and generate knowledge to benefit the State, he said.
Plea to doctors
The association also appealed to doctors to follow the stipulated treatment protocol while subscribing medicines to patients. It was up to doctors to prescribe quality medicines available at reasonable rates in view of the sharp rise in prices of medicines.
