KATTAPPANA: All arrangements have been made in the district to meet any monsoon-related havoc, additional district magistrate V. Jayaprakash has said. He said that 24-hour control rooms will be set up at the district collectorate and at the taluk offices.

The tahildars have been directed to avoid delays in assessing damages to crops and houses due to monsoon. They have also been directed to take adequate safety measures in case landslides are reported. A joint task force will be formed by including the officials of the police, fire and rescue services, Health Department, Forest Department and Education Department.

Arrangements will also be made to remove road blocks due to landslips and to avoid power disruption.

In the tribal areas, availability of essential items will be ensured. He also said that all departments concerned should submit detailed reports regarding rain-related issues on a daily basis at the collectorate. Officials of various departments attended a meeting convened at the collectorate to discuss monsoon preparedness.
