District Collector reviews preparations for the annual regatta on the Pampa

The Public Works Department will construct a make-shift pandal at the Sathram pavilion and barricades on the banks of the Pampa at Aranmula as part of the arrangements for the annual snake-boat regatta, Uthrittathi Vallamkali, District Collector Pranab Jyotinath has said. Mr. Jyotinath said the PWD (Roads division) had promised completion of the repair and maintenance of the Sathram (guest house) on the banks of the Pampa at Aranmula on a war-footing.

All roads leading to Aranmula would also be repaired before the on September 20. The Kerala State Electricity Board had been asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the venue on the day.

The Collector had convened a meeting of the heads of various government departments here on Wednesday to review the arrangements to be made for the smooth conduct of the regatta.

He said the Irrigation wing of the Water Resources Department had already started the work to remove the mud bank on the race course.

Superintendent of Police P. Vimaladitya said the police would make all necessary arrangements for vehicle parking and traffic control, besides security arrangements.

Special services

Mr. Jyotinath said the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation would operate special services to Aranmula from its depots at Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Pandalam, Ranni, Pathanamthitta, Adoor and Mallappally on the day.

The Health Department would deploy three medial teams with ambulances at Sathram kadavu, Parappuzha kadavu and Thottappuzhasserry kadavu.
