Special bus services on two days
District Collector V.N. Jithendran has said that government departments will make arrangements for the annual Karthika-Pongala festival at the Chakkulathukavu Bhagavathy temple at Neerettupuram, near Thiruvalla, on November 28.
An official meeting here on Wednesday reviewed the arrangements for the festival. Thiruvalla Revenue Divisional Officer Gopakumar will coordinate the functioning of various government departments.
Mr. Jithendran said the police department would take steps for crowd management, traffic control, and security of the devotees. A temporary police aid-post would be opened at the Podiyadi junction.
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) would operate special services between Chakkulathukavu and various depots at Thiruvalla, Chengannur, Kottayam, Changanassery, Kollam, Kottarakara, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Adoor, Pandalam, Mallappally, Ranni, and Punalur among other places on November 27 and 28.
The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) and the Kerala State Electricity Board would take steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity to the temple premises and the surrounding villages on November 27 and 28. The KWA would ensure supply of potable water in tanker lorries to various places as and when needed.
The Fire and Rescue Services would open a temporary unit at Neerettupuram during the festival period.
