CBI raids houses of HNL officials

KOCHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday conducted raids on the houses of two purchase officers of Hindustan Newsprint Ltd. (HNL), Veloor. This was in connection with the alleged irregularities in the purchase of recycled paper from a company based in the United States, which caused loss of Rs.75 lakh to the HNL. The CBI also raided the house of a manger of a transportation company in this connection. Staff Reporter

KOCHI: An offset press owner on Paramara Road was fined Rs.3,500 by the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court for not abiding by the provisions of the Factories Act. This follows a case filed by the Additional Factory Inspector. Staff Reporter
