Traffic to be resumed

KOCHI: Thoroughfare through the Venduruthy Bridge will be resumed from Friday (March 2) night. The authorities took the decision after obtaining the report of the experts who gauged the impact of the accident. The traffic along the bridge was stopped after a dredger crashed into it. Rail traffic will be restored only after completing the repair works. Staff Reporter

Prize distribution

KOCHI: Distribution of prizes to the winners of the scholarship test organised by the T. I. M. E and The Hindu Education Plus will be held at the Fine Arts Hall here on March 4. Cash prizes worth Rs.33,000 will be awarded to the toppers. Participation certificates will be given to all the students who appeared for the test. A quiz programme will be conducted for students and parents attending the prize distribution function that will begin at 10 a.m. Results of the scholarship test are available at the T. I. M. Seminar on budget

KOCHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Ernakulam branch, organised a seminar on "Union Budget-2007" here on Friday. P.J. Thomas Kutty, Director General of Income Tax (Inv.), Kochi, inaugurated the seminar. He stressed the need to create more awareness among assesses to pay appropriate taxes. S. Gurumurthy, columnist, said agriculture was the most important sector as far as Indian economy was concerned. But it was ignored by various Governments or given lesser importance in budget proposals.
