Lieutenant General M.C. Badhani, Engineer-in-Chief of the Army, visited establishments under the Southern Naval Command (SNC) from January 5 to January 8 and reviewed the progress of various works in the Command.

Visits Ezhimala

The Lt. General's itinerary at SNC included visits to Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala and the ongoing Married Accommodation Projects (MAP) at Kochi.

The Engineer-in-Chief is head of the Corps of Engineers and the Military Engineer Service, which is responsible for setting up and maintaining infrastructure of the Army, the Air Force, the Navy, the DRDO and the Ordnance Factories.

Lt. General Badhani was Director General Border Roads prior to his present appointment.

The Corps of Engineers recently earned wide acclaim when they completed in four days a 100 m-long bridge in Delhi during the Common Wealth Games. The Sappers, as they are known, have always been in the forefront whether it is flood relief, earthquake relief, rehabilitation of insurgency-hit local population in J&K or the rescue of children fallen in abandoned bore wells.
