Twenty-five students were waiting anxiously for a meeting of their lifetime. They were promised an interaction with Robert J. Aumann, Nobel Prize winner for Economics in 2005.
But their wait turned out to be futile as Mr. Aumann was not in a mood for any media exposure or interaction. His itinerary had only one destination, the Jewish Synagogue at Mattanchery. And so, he left DC Books, where all arrangements were laid out in a hurry.
He spent the rest of the day with Samuel Helegua, warden of the Synagogue, to learn more about Jews in the region. The students, however, got a chance to be photographed with him.
