Achuthanandan to inaugurate the drive at Sulthan Bathery

KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate a campaign aimed at preventing suicide by farmers, at Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad on Saturday.

The programme, organised by the Department of Culture, will get under way at at 4.30 p.m. at the Panchayath Hall. M.A. Baby, Minister for Education and Culture; K.P. Rajendran, Minister for Revenue; Mullakkara Ratnakaran, Minister for Agriculture; and actor Murali will attend the inaugural function. Social critic Sukumar Azhikode will deliver the keynote address.

Staging of drama

`Koottu Krishi,' a drama written by the late poet Edassery will be staged by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academ after the inaugural function.

And in the following days in Pulpally, Mullankolly and Meenangady.

As part of the campaign, a painters' camp will be held by Kerala Lalithakala Akademi from Saturday to Thursday at Mananthavady and an exhibition at Sulthan Bathery on Saturday.

A mural camp will be held by Vasthu Vidya Gurukulam, Aranmula, at Muthanga from March 9 to12.
