Thrust on promoting organic farming
Fete to be held from February
11 to 15
Kozhikode: A reception committee office of the National Food and Agro Biodiversity Festival, ‘Annam,’ to be held here in February, has started functioning at the Aradhana Tourist Home, Kallai.
Mayor M. Bhaskaran inaugurated the office.
The festival, being organised by the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action, Department of Agriculture and Department of Civil Supplies, will be held on the Marine Grounds from February 11 to 15.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that such festivals needed to be organised in view of the State heavily depending on other States for essential goods. The festival would also promote organic farming in the State. Kitchen gardens would help families change their lifestyle as well as rid of diseases, he said.
Meladi Narayanan, standing committee chairman, presided over the function.
The National Horticultural Mission, State Bio Diversity Board, Council for State Technology Environment and the State Horticultural Mission are associating with the programme.
