‘The Energy,’ directed by K.P. Shelly, IMNSGHSS, Mayyil, Kannur, has been adjudged the best animation film at a State-level competition for schoolchildren organised by the IT@School and the Energy Management Centre as part of ‘Bhoomiku Oru Chitram,’ an ongoing awareness programme on energy conservation.

The award winners were declared at a press conference here on Friday.

Cartooning and animation film-making competitions were held at the school and the district level as part of the programme, which started in October last year. A class on energy management and an animation workshop were held for the students as part of the initiative.

Abhihith Saji of St. Mary’s HSS, Mullankolly, won the award for the best director for the film ‘The Tree of Life.’ ‘PowerCut’d, directed by S. Sachin of STGMSS, Kaipattor, Pathanamthitta, was chosen as the best animation work.

The award for the best concept was bagged by Nithindas of Chemnad Jamaat HSS, Kasaragod, for the film ‘Chimbu.’ ‘Yathra,’ directed by B.R. Neha of NHSS, Nochat, Kozhikode, won the award for the best background design.

Cartooning

Sruthi R. Mohan of Nirmala Bhavan HSS, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram, bagged the first prize in the cartooning contest. Navaneeth T.P. of TMHSS, Vellora, Kannur, came second, and B.R. Neha of NHSS, Nochat, Kozhikode, bagged the third prize.

The winner of the best film receives a cash prize of Rs.10,000, a certificate and trophy, while the other winners get a cash prize of Rs.5,000, certificate, and trophy.
