Multimedia is a combination of Text, Audio, Still Image, Animation and Video Interactivity. Multimedia applications were, until the mid-90s, uncommon due to the expensive hardware required. With increases in performance and decreases in price, however, multimedia is now common. Now all PCs are capable of displaying video, though the resolution available depends on the power of the computer’s video adapter and CPU. Multimedia finds its application in various areas including advertisements, art, education, entertainment, engineering, medicine, mathematics, business, scientific research and Web media.

An individual multimedia designer needs skills range from technical, analytical, to creative. Then they can cover the spectrum throughout their career. Exciting presentations are used to grab and keep attention in advertising. Industrial, business to business and interoffice communications are often developed in advanced multimedia presentations.
