Actor qualifies for the national archery championship
Usually, archery does not draw much of a crowd. But on Saturday, the St. Albert’s College ground at Kaloor here, which hosted the Kerala State Championship, had a sizeable number of spectators. The reason; actor Ananya was in action.
The former champion did not disappoint the crowd, winning the women’s compound event with a score of 466 and qualifying for the forthcoming national championship.
The popular actor, who won the Filmfare Award for best supporting actress for her role in the Tamil film Engayum Eppothum and the Asianet Award for the Malayalam film Seniors, was making a comeback to the sport after nearly five years.
Ananya said she had just three to four days to prepare for the championship. A recent accident had made things difficult. It hurt a wee bit more while pulling the string, she said.
But she plans to work harder, compete in the national championship, and is even eyeing global competitions.
