The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), in association with Surya TV, will organise ‘star nights' in Bangalore and Kozhikode on February 27 and March 2 respectively.

AMMA president Innocent said here on Thursday that the event, ‘Suryathejasode Amma,' would feature the who's who of the Malayalam film industry. The objective of the programme is to provide medical aid to veteran artistes. AMMA will offer financial support to the families in need after the death of artistes. The association will also provide monthly emoluments to artistes facing financial crisis.

Siddique, director, will be the show director. Edavela Babu, actor, is the event manager.

Mr. Babu said the star night was an extension of the welfare activities of AMMA that began with the super-hit movie ‘20-20.' The movie was part of the efforts to raise funds for the welfare of Malayalam movie actors, he said.

Ajay Vidyasagar, chief operating officer, Sun Network, and Ravi Menon, group programming head, said the event would be the launch pad for the television show ‘Mukilmoodiya Nakshatrangal' initiated by the Surya TV. Fifty veteran artistes will be featured in the chat show that will be a collector's edition for both the Surya and AMMA. The artistes will receive Rs.10, 000 each during the show. The star-studded shows will include innovative performances by renowned artistes. The rehearsals for the show will begin here on February 20.
