All set for The Hindu Young World quiz

Over 600 students to participate in the contest

Come November 15, more than 600 students will put on their thinking caps at the Priyadarshini Hall in South Fort. Firing up their brain bytes would be The Hindu Young World Quiz, one of the most prestigious quiz in the country.

The event, for which 85 schools have signed up, will start at 11 a.m. and the teams have to report at the venue at 9.30 a.m.

Regional finals

Six teams for the regional finals on stage will be selected on the basis of a, written, preliminary round.

The winners of the regional round will be given Rs.15,000 in cash, certificates and other gifts.

The second prize is Rs.12,000 and the third prize, Rs.10,000. The fourth, fifth and sixth prize winners get Rs.2,000 each.

More attractive prizes await the winners at the final round, which will be held in Chennai on November 25. There the winner gets Rs.50,000 in cash while the second prize is Rs.40,000 and the third prize, Rs.30,000.

The fourth, fifth and sixth prize winners get Rs.10,000 each.

In addition to the cash prizes, there are plenty of other prizes for the participants and the audience.

The Young World Quiz is part of The Hindu-Newspaper In Education initiative.

The title sponsors of the competition are the Velammal Educational Trust. Pepsodent is the associate sponsor while Aqua Sure, Black Thunder, Gold Winner, Yobykes, Tamilnad Mercaantile Bank Ltd, Cherry Blossom, Reynolds, Encyclopaedia Britannica and Firefox are the national sponsors.

Tata Nano is the car sponsor while Babas Colour Lab and Style Plus are the Regional Sponsors.

‘i Ads and Events' is the event manager for the mega event.
