THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government plans to electrify all houses in the State during the 11th Plan period and all houses of people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes within two years, Governor R.L Bhatia told the Assembly on Friday.

In his address to the Assembly, he said the Kerala State Electricity Board would be retained as a public sector utility by restructuring it.

The Government's target was to increase the installed power generation capacity in the State by 500 MW in the next four years.

Work on Pallivasal Extension Scheme had already begun, he said.

A 400 kV power highway too would be completed within four years, he added.
