A rally taken out from Kasaragod on November 9 as part of popularising the State government's Akshaya project reached here on Thursday. The vehicle rally was given a reception at the District Collectorate here. District Collector M.C. Mohandas flagged off the next leg of the rally, which will conclude at Thiruvananthapuram on November 18.

The State will celebrate Akshaya Day on November 18, marking the 8th anniversary of the computer education project which had caught the world's attention. It was on November 18, 2002, that the then President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam launched the Akshaya e-literacy project in Malappuram.
